The Supreme Court has so far delivered 272 judgments in the 2022/2023 Legal Year. Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, made this known in a statement while felicitating with Nigerian Christian and Muslim faithful over this year’s Easter celebration and the witnessing of the ongoing Ramadan fast respectively. Justice Hamza Muazu of a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Wednesday issued an order temporarily restraining Mr Julius Abure from parading himself as the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP) pending the hearing of the substantive suit brought against him and three others. Justice Muazu issued the interim order while delivering ruling in an exparte application brought by some aggrieved members of the LP including the party’s Publicity Secretary, Dr Abayomi Arabambi, challenging the continued stay in office of the defendants over allegations of corruption. The World Bank has said that the incoming administration in Nigeria will face weak economic growth and policy challenges this year. In its latest Africa’s Pulse report for April 2023, published on Wednesday, the bank predicted a 2.8 per cent economic growth for Nigeria in 2023. This new projection is lower than the 2.9 per cent earlier projected in the bank’s Global Economic Prospects report that was published in January this year. A court in Kano has given a man till Friday to kill his cockerel following a neighbour’s complaint that the constant crowing deprives him of sleep. Magistrate Halima Wali issued the order against Malam Yusuf on Tuesday, declaring the bird a nuisance to the neighbourhood.
