The Nigerian Bar Association has published the Directions of the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee on its website, while cautioning lawyers and members of the public that all published directions remain subject to appeal under the Legal Practitioners Act. In a caveat accompanying the publication, the NBA stated that where an appeal has been filed against any direction of the LPDC, such appeal operates as a stay of execution pending the determination of the appeal by the Supreme Court of Nigeria. An Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court on Wednesday sentenced a school proprietor in Lagos, Benson Arinze, to life imprisonment for sexually assaulting a six-year-old pupil. Justice Abiola Soladoye held that the prosecution successfully proved the one-count charge of sexual assault by penetration against Arinze. Two Abuja security Guards, James Sule, 30 and Adamu Yau, 25 have been jailed for life over serial rape of a girl for six years. The convicts who began to rape the girl when she was six were handed life imprisonment, without the option of fine, by Justice S.M.
