Chief Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu* (2021) LPELR-56190(CA), upheld the cancellation and withdrawal of the degree result and certificate of the former governor by the Senate of Abia State University. A Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos, has restrained the Directors of Retail Supermarkets (ShopRite) from selling the shares or assets of the company until the satisfaction of the judgment debt. The court further directed the directors to disclose all movable and immovable assets to the Judgment Creditor. The order was made by Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa following an ex-parte application filed in furtherance of a consent judgment entered on July 22, 2025. The Federal High Court in Abuja has restrained the Nigeria Police Force and the Federal Road Safety Corps from imposing fines on motorists over third-party motor vehicle insurance without a court order. The Federal Government, on Wednesday, arraigned five suspected masterminds of a plot to overthrow the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu through a coup d’état. The defendants were brought before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court in Abuja for trial. After pleading not guilty to the charges, the court ordered their remand in the custody of the Department of State Services. The remand followed an application by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, who appeared in court to personally handle the matter. Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Lagos Zonal Directorate 2, Ikoyi, have launched an investigation into a suspected fake lawyer, John Anoruo, over alleged possession of a forged Nigerian Bar Association stamp. Anoruo, who runs a legal and educational consultancy in Ikorodu, Lagos, was arrested on Monday, April 20, 2026. About 1,067 candidates were unsuccessful in the 2025 Bar Final Examination, based on results released on Monday by the Council of Legal Education. In a statement issued by the Council’s Secretary and Director of Administration, it was disclosed that a total of 7,602 candidates participated in the examinations conducted in December 2025. A breakdown of the results shows that 212 candidates achieved first class honours, while 1,216 earned second class upper division.
