A Justice of the Supreme Court, Centus Chima Nweze, has died at 64. Mr Nweze, who still had six years before attaining the statutory retirement age of 70, died on Saturday, according to Supreme Court sources. The circumstances of his death are unclear, as the Supreme Court has yet to make an official announcement. Mr Nweze, until his death, ranked the fifth most senior among the 13 judges of the Supreme Court. The Department of State services (DSS) has rearrested suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele. The secret police took custody of Emefiele shortly after a face-off with officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NSC). Emefiele, who has been in DSS detention since June, was arraigned in court on Tuesday. Justice Nicholas Oweibo had granted the suspended CBN governor N20 million bail. The bail condition includes producing a surety with landed property within the jurisdiction of the court in Ikoyi, Lagos, depositing his passport and also producing a Civil servant not below level 16 to perfect bail.…

The family of a woman, Chinyere Awuda, who was beaten to death in Cosmila Hotel, Awka, Anambra State, on July 16 and the body dumped into a pool, has petitioned the police, alleging conspiracy. The family stated that their daughter was a victim of conspiracy and intentional murder.
