The Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, on Monday, said it has identified seven lawyers that influenced judges to issue conflicting court orders, especially on political matters. The NBA, which is the umbrella body of legal practitioners in the country, said the seven lawyers, including a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, were found culpable by its investigate committee. Through the first two weeks of December 2021, MTN Nigeria made a public offering to sell 575 million ordinary shares to Nigerians at the price of N169 per share, in what was referred to as another first for MTN in the Nigerian market. On June 3, 2021, the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Tanko Muhammad submitted some proposals to the National Assembly to alter some provisions of the Constitution concerning the Judiciary. The proposals, a 17-page paper, titled: ‘Input by the Judiciary to the proposed alteration to the 1999 Constitution (as amended)’, contained 45 proposals on the reform of the Judiciary. The Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has vowed that he would not pay any form of ransom to secure the release of his Trade and Investment Commissioner, Mr Federal Otokito, who was kidnapped a few days ago. Aliko Dangote, chairman of Dangote Group and Africa’s richest person, says the refinery will begin processing crude by the third quarter of 2022. According to Bloomberg, the business mogul said mechanical work on the refinery is done, and “hopefully before the end of the third quarter we should be in the market”. He said this during a briefing at the plant site in Lagos. Burkina Faso President Roch Kabore has been detained at a military camp by mutinying soldiers following heavy gunfire around his residence on Sunday night in the capital Ouagadougou. According to Reuters, two security sources and a West African diplomat said this on Monday. The mutinous soldiers are yet to issue a statement on the incident.
