The Department of State Services (DSS) has terminated the employment of 115 personnel as part of ongoing reforms within the agency. The Service, in a statement, cautioned the public to avoid any dealings with the dismissed individuals, some of whom are reportedly still posing as DSS operatives.

“As part of the ongoing reforms in the Department of State Services (DSS), the public is hereby informed that a total of 115 personnel have been dismissed over a period,” the statement read.

The DSS also reiterated earlier warnings concerning individuals, including Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, who have engaged in fraudulent activities while claiming to be DSS personnel.

“Members of the public are therefore advised to desist from any official dealings with these individuals,” the statement added. “For clarity, the identities of the affected persons have been published on the Service’s official website https://dss.gov.ng/media/more/4. For requests, enquiries, or complaints, the Service can be reached on 09088373515, or via email at dsspr@dss.gov.ng.”

The announcement comes amid a major shake-up across Nigeria’s security apparatus following reports of an attempted coup. While the Federal Government has neither confirmed nor denied the coup allegations, President Bola Tinubu recently dismissed some service chiefs. Reports indicate that some security operatives are currently in detention in connection with the alleged plot.

Law News November 11, 2025

Lagos State has approached the Supreme Court seeking leave to commence contempt proceedings against the National Assembly over its continued efforts to pass the Central Gaming Bill, despite a subsisting judgment of the apex court declaring such legislation unconstitutional.

In a motion filed on behalf of the Attorney-General of Lagos State by Senior Advocate of Nigeria Bode Olanipekun, the state is seeking the Supreme Court’s leave to initiate judgment enforcement proceedings through the issuance of Form 48—a legal step that precedes the commencement of committal or contempt proceedings.
