The Police Service Commission (PSC) on Thursday rewarded the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Bompai Division, Kano State Command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), CSP Daniel Itse Amah, with a special promotion of an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) and cash N1 million for rejecting a bribe of $200,000 to cover up a crime reported at his Division. A British university student who was arrested for throwing eggs at King Charles III on Thursday said he had been banned from carrying eggs in public as part of his bail conditions. Patrick Thelwell, 23, was released from custody after Wednesday’s incident in York, northern England, during a visit by the monarch. The federal capital territory (FCT) high court in Abuja has set aside its earlier order jailing Abdulrasheed Bawa, chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), for contempt. TheCable had reported how the court ordered that the EFCC boss be remanded over the failure of the anti-graft agency to comply with its initial order. INEC chairman Mahmood Yakubu says cases in courts arising from the conduct of primaries for the nomination of candidates by political parties are increasing. Mr Yakubu disclosed this at the capacity-building workshop for justices and judges on election matters in Abuja on Monday. The chairman said INEC was joined in about 600 cases relating to primaries and candidates’ nomination by political parties for the 2023 general elections. A High Court sitting in Abuja has convicted the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa, of contempt of court.
