The Lagos High Court Sitting at the Tafawa Balewa Square on Lagos Island, on Monday, sentenced the suspended Assistant Superintendent of Police, Drambi Vandi, who killed a Lagos-based lawyer, Mrs. Omobolanle Raheem, to death by hanging. Justice Ibironke Harrison sentenced the ASP after finding him guilty of the murder of the pregnant lawyer. Harrison held that the prosecution was able to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt. Former Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, appeared before a UK Court on Monday. The ex-minister, who was charged with receiving bribes in the form of cash, luxury goods, flights on private jets and the use of high-end properties in Britain in return for awarding oil contracts, was arraigned at Westminster Magistrates’ Court. The Supreme Court has fixed Thursday, October 5, to hear the appeal of the embattled leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu. The United States District Court in Northern Illinois has given Chicago State University (CSU) 48 hours starting from Saturday to release President Bola Tinubu’s academic records to an opposition candidate in Nigeria’s February presidential election, Atiku Abubakar. The federal government says it will waive the value-added tax (VAT) on diesel for the next six months as part of measures to cushion the impacts of the removal of the petrol subsidy. President of the Court of Appeal, PCA, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, on Monday, decried that over 39, 526 appeals are currently pending before the court. Justice Dongban-Mensem noted that bulk of the cases, which were filed in 20 Divisions of the Court, bordered on electoral disputes. “The cost and negative effect of electoral litigation is becoming worrisome.
