The federal government ordered the immediate suspension of 3,000 workers for allegedly presenting false federal public service employment certificates. Yemi-Esan said the new findings came after about 1,500 federal public service workers were discovered with fake appointment letters in April 2022.

While explaining why there have been no recent vacancies to the Service, she noted that the federal public service is currently overwhelmed with more than 76,000 workers in the facility.
She argues that there is no way for the federal civil service to attract all Nigerian graduates, pointing out that the government’s plan now is to have an agile workforce.
She added that the experience of COVID-19, where junior officers stayed at home, was an indication that the Service was being over-expanded.
