A domestic violence and sex crime court in Ikeja on Wednesday sentenced Ayodele Bailey to life in prison for defiling a 15-year-old girl.
Abiola Soladoye, the judge, stated that the unclean case against the convict was proven by the prosecution.
“The accused is rude and selfish. The survivor gave her testimony in a sincere, convincing, positive and wonderful way. She was brave,” NAN quoted the judge.
“The defendant’s story is full of lies. He is a reckless and ruthless defendant. Herein, he is found guilty of the charges against which he is charged. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of a fine.
The judge also ordered the convicted person’s name to be placed on the state sex offender register.
According to NAN, the prosecution brought two witnesses against the defendant during the trial. State Prosecution Team members Olusola Soneye and Olufunke Adegoke said the convict committed the crime on December 18, 2017 in Alaka, Mushin, Lagos.
Prosecutors said the victim was visiting her grandmother and playing with other children outside the house when she was convicted of luring her into an unfinished building and defiling her.
The prosecution said the offense violated the provisions of Section 137 of the Lagos State Criminal Act, 2015.
