The Osun State High Court in Osogbo has instructed the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) to go ahead with the local government elections scheduled for February 22, 2025. The ruling came after a case was filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against OSIEC and its Chairman, Hashim Abioye. Justice A. Aderigbigbe declared that there are vacancies in all 30 local government areas of the state and that the election held on October 15, 2022, was nullified. The court stated that the elected officials from that election had been dismissed by a Federal High Court ruling in November 2022.…

The NJC reaffirmed its exclusive constitutional authority to recommend the removal of judicial officers. Fourteen Democratic-led states had filed a lawsuit challenging Musk’s legal authority, but District Judge Tanya Chutkan denied their emergency request for a temporary restraining order. “Plaintiffs have not carried their burden of showing that they will suffer imminent, irreparable harm absent a temporary restraining order,” Chutkan ruled. DOGE, an agency overseen by Musk, has been aggressively cutting government…
