A Kenyan court on Monday acquitted a controversial self-styled preacher who claimed he could help infertile couples conceive “miracle babies” through prayer, citing insufficient evidence from prosecutors. Gilbert Deya, a former stonemason who moved to London from Kenya in the mid-90s, was accused of stealing five children between 1999 and 2004 to buttress his claims. British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has announced an increase in visa application fee paid by immigrants. The announcement came after a speech regarding an increase in public sector wages. Sunak confirmed that part of the funding for the wage increase will be raised from the foreign migrants who come to the United Kingdom to live and work, the British media said. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Friday said it would sanction, by blacklisting bank directors with loans that remain non-performing for more than one year. A businessman, Amarah Kennedy, who was accused of circulating nude photos of his former lovers was on Wednesday arraigned at a Chief Magistrates’ Court, in Ogba, Lagos. Ekiti State Chief Judge, Justice Oyewole Adeyeye, escaped death on Wednesday, when a section of the state high court complex collapsed on him while in the office.Justice Adeyeye is said to be currently receiving medical attention at an undisclosed hospital in the state. A warder attached to the Kirikiri Custodial Centre, Lagos State, Kayode Fatombi, has been arrested by the police for allegedly aiding the escape of some prison inmates. Three men were arrested by the police for alleged robbery and kidnapping. They were subsequently arraigned before the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja. A source said two of the inmates escaped after the warder led them out on the pretext of taking them somewhere.
