Six Nigerians have been sanctioned by the United States for allegedly supporting Nigeria-based terrorist group, Boko Haram The US, in a statement, listed the individuals as Abdurrahman Ado Musa, Salihu Yusuf Adamu, Bashir Ali Yusuf, Muhammed Ibrahim Isa, Ibrahim Ali Alhassan and Surajo Abubakar Muhammad. The Supreme Court of Nigeria on Friday in Abuja upheld the de-registration of 22 political parties carried out by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC. The parties were among the 74 scrapped in 2020 by INEC following their dismal performances in the previous elections. The caretaker extraordinary convention planning committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) says political appointees elected as delegates won’t be allowed to vote during the convention. The convention is scheduled to hold on March 26. Seven persons have been charged to court for their alleged involvement in parading a woman naked at Aguleri in Anambra East local government area. The victim, a widow, was accused of infidelity that led to the death of her husband. In a trending video, the lady was stripped naked by a mob that publicly abused her. The Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, has sent one Michael Jackson to three months in prison for internet fraud. According to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Jackson who was arrested on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, posed as Ella Ellywood, a transgender woman, to scam victims of millions of Naira. “The suspect, who also claimed to be a Disc Jockey, had in his possession fetish items, which he claimed was “for grace and success,” the commission had said in a statement. A Lagos High Court sitting at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) has discharged and acquitted a housewife, Mary Alilu, who was accused of murdering her husband, Kingsley Perewe, by cutting his neck and head. Justice Modupe Nicol-Clay freed the housewife who had to spend over four years in detention of the one-count charge of murder in suit number LD/5944C/17. Nigeria’s Toyin Tofade, last Wednesday, became the first black female president of the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS) founded in 1881. According to a press release by the college, Ms Tofade was selected to become the 10th president of the college, following a comprehensive search. “Dr Tofade is the first Black woman to serve as president of Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in the college’s 141-year history. The court says while it takes one-tenth of the proceeds of the fees paid by lawyers at the end of the year, nine-tenth is given to the NBA. The Supreme Court, on Monday, explained how it shares the practising fees paid by Nigerian lawyers with the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
