Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state extended the period of mourning in the state to Wednesday.This is contained in a statement signed to Akure by the governor’s chief press secretary, Richard Olatunde.
Mr. Olatunde explained that the extension follows the resolution of the Southwest Governors Forum to follow a 3-day mourning period, Monday through Wednesday in all the states of the Southwest.
At least 40 people were killed on June 5 when gunmen attacked a Catholic church in Owo, Ondo State.
“Governor Akeredolu also ordered that all state flags be flown at half-mast for a period of three days.
” Recall that the governor ordered that all state flags be flown. hung at half-post for seven days from Monday to Sunday. Mr. Olatunde said:
