President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday asked the Senate to confirm the nomination of Justice Hussein Baba-Yusuf for appointment as the Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
Senate President Ahmad Lawan read Buhari’s letter on the floor at plenary.
In August, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad, swore in Justice Hussein Baba Yusuf as acting Chief Judge of the FCT Judiciary, alongside five newly appointed Kadis of FCT Sharia Court of Appeal.
You must not allow the weight of your responsibilities to weigh you down. Your opulent experiences that have spanned several years should easily be deployed to counter any untoward situation in the course of your stewardship,“ he said.
Justice Muhammad also charged the acting Chief Judge and the new Kadis of the Sharia Court of Appeal to rise and operate above primordial sentiment in the discharge of their duties.
He told Justice Baba-Yusuf that as acting Chief Judge of FCT Judiciary, he will definitely be tempted and even intimidated in different ways and guises and advised that he should remain firm and unshaken as good conscience fears no threat.
