Lagos State Judiciary has no doubt played a pace-setter role in the development of the legal profession in the country. This was stated by the Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Moyosore Onigbanjo, SAN, who spoke at the opening ceremony of the just concluded Bold Transitions Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association ( NBA) in Lagos.
The state judiciary has been instrumental in the advancement of the legal profession in Nigeria and uncommon transformation in judiciary and other sectors of the economy.
Speaking on behalf of the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Onigbanjo said the state’s judicial system had upheld the legacies of the past administration in the improvement of the legal practice in the country.
He said, “We have continually transformed our structures, building new courtrooms, renovating existing ones, to create a more conducive environment for our judges and to efficiently administer justice.I can boldly say that no state takes the funding of judiciary as serious as Lagos State, and this is a legacy that has been sustained by successive administration sine 1999.
Lagos remains a reference point and fertile ground for practitioners not only for lawyers, arbitrators, and judges, but also as a major reference centre for other industry players including architects, builders, civil and structural engineers, quantity surveyors, and project managers, among others” Onigbanjo stated.
