Re NBA, Warri Branch Centenary Celebration of practice of Law in Warri.
Congratulation and goodwill message.
It is with great honour and profound admiration that I extend my goodwill and congratulation to the Warri Branch of the NBA, my beloved Branch, on the momentous occasion of the Centenary Celebration of the practice of Law in Warri.
From the record, law practice commenced in Warri in 1925 with Asifo Egbe upon his call to the English Bar and subsequent return to Warri in 1925 and began practice of law in the oil city. This remarkable milestone represents a hundred years of legal evolution, intellectual growth, institutional development, and enduring commitment to justice.
For a century, the law has served as the backbone of orderly society—guiding conduct, resolving disputes, safeguarding rights, and promoting fairness in the city. This celebration is therefore not only a commemoration of time, but a tribute to our forebears such as Asifo Egbe, Justice Ayo Gabriel Irikefe, CJN, Dr. Mudiaga Odje SAN, et al,scholars, judges, practitioners, students, and institutions who have dedicated their lives to upholding the rule of law in the city.
No wonder the Warri Branch is so steep and reknown for the very best tradition of the legal profession and highly regarded among the comity of branches of the NBA.
As we reflect on 100 years of legal practice, we are reminded that the law remains a living force—constantly adapting to meet the needs of a dynamic society. The transformative journey of the past century inspires us to strengthen our institutions, deepen legal research, embrace innovation, and cultivate the next generation of legal minds with integrity, courage, and excellence.
I congratulate the Chairman, Bar Leaders, members and stakeholders of the Branch on this uncommon milestone and landmark.
Once again, Congratulations as you celebrate and relish this rare privilege and status.
Olorogun Oghenero Okoro
Past Chairman, NBA Warri Branch
