The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has secured the conviction of Emmanuel Ogunyemi, a civil servant in Lagos state, for unlawfully receiving salaries from two government agencies. Investigations by the ICPC revealed that Ogunyemi was simultaneously on the payroll of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and the Agbado Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), resulting in an illegal gain of N3.49 million. The supreme court has dismissed a suit filed by the 36 state governments and the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) challenging the federal government’s management of recovered looted funds. A United States District Court has sentenced a 37-year-old Nigerian, Henry Ezeonyido, to 27 months imprisonment for his role in a $1m insurance fraud.
