Nigerians may have to pay more for digital services as the Federal Government has introduced a policy requiring foreign companies that provide digital services in the country to collect and remit Value Added Tax to the Federal Inland Revenue Service. The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, said this during the public presentation of the 2022 budget in Abuja on Wednesday. After weeks of footdragging, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), gazetted a court judgement that ordered the government to declare bandits as terrorists. States in the North-West geopolitical zone including Zamfara, Katsina, Sokoto and Kaduna have been ravaged by banditry in the last year. Lagos State governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Friday swore-in 14 High Court judges, saying that all eyes are on them as they would have to justify their new position. Of the 14 judges who took oath, nine were females, bringing the total number of judges in the state to 70. The number of Judges in Lagos State Judiciary have increased to 70, following the addition of 14 new Judges who were, on Friday, sworn-in by Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu. The Lagos directorate of vehicle inspection (DVIS) says from January 2022, roadworthiness certificates won’t be issued to vehicles not presented for physical inspection. The directive was contained in a video released by the DVIS on Wednesday. The development follows an earlier announcement by Frederic Oladeinde, Lagos commissioner for transportation, in November. The federal government has extended the deadline for the ongoing national identification number (NIN) and subscriber identity module (SIM) integration exercise by three months. The new deadline is March 31, 2022. Isa Pantami, minister of communications and digital economy, conveyed the decision of the federal government in a statement on Friday. The Federal Government has declared that religious gatherings should be restricted to 50% capacity as part of measures to curb the spread of COVID-19.
