An Ondo State High Court in Owo has dethroned the Olute of Ute, Ose Local Government Area, Oba Michael Adetunji Oluwole.
The embattled monarch has been in a legal tussle over his emergence as king in the last 29 years.
The Olule Omolaja Ruling House had challenged the retired Army Major’s right to ascend the throne.
Justice Ademola Enikuomehin nullified the selection process that brought Oba Oluwole to the throne, and ordered a fresh selection process to the stool.
He also ordered Oluwole to stop parading himself as the town’s traditional ruler. He held that a fresh selection process from within the Olule Omoloja ruling house should begin.
Justice Enikuomehin ruled that the deposed monarch has no right to the throne, and affirmed that he was not a member of the ruling house designated to fill the vacant stool.
He said: “Oluwole has no right to the throne, being a member of the Kingmakers’; he should no make himself king.”
The Claimant, Adewumi Fabuluje, described the ruling as victory for the Olule Omolaja Ruling House.
Counsel to the state, F.K Salami, said the judgment would be reviewed and necessary action taken.
