Assistant Commissioner of Police, Simon Asamber Lough has made history by becoming the first Nigerian Police Officer to have earned the prestigious title of Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SANs.
ASP Lough, an indigene of Benue State is among 72 distinguished lawyers named as SANs by the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee for the 2021 award of the rank.
Together with the judiciary, civil services and the military, the police constitute one of the key institutions of a modern state. In particular, the origins, development and role of the police have not only prevented, detected and crime, they have also maintained law and order, preserved public safety.
The swearing in will hold on December 8, 2021, in a ceremony to be conducted by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Tanko Muhammad, at the Supreme Court Complex to mark the commencement of the 2022 legal year of the apex court.
